Six hectares of vineyard purchased from her mother, Josetta Saffirio
Monforte d’Alba - Sara Vezza, was born in 1980 and is mother to four children: Clara, Cecilia, Giovanni and Cesare. She represents the fifth generation of winegrowers in Monforte d’Alba in the Langhe. The wine business comprises two lines of wines, the original Josetta Saffirio line with its familiar gnomes on the labels, and the evolution Sara Vezza line, with its Aristotelian symbols. The estate also boasts a single tract of 5.5 hectares in Roddino and several hectares in the Murazzano district at 700 metres elevation. Annual production amounts to some 90,000 bottles.
«My objective is to promote the Langhe territory, with wines that are an authentic expression of the soil they grow in», says Sara, who has chosen the SQNPI organic certification, and cultivates the vines according to the biodiversity of the soil. She also subscribes to the VITA sustainability project, recognised by the ministry of Ecological Transition.
« When I began, I produced just a few thousand bottles of wine.
Today, my brand has great appeal, not only because of the family-owned Barolo vineyards, but also because of the acquisition of new vineyards and our ever-growing commitment to investing in quality ».
